We are currently on the lookout for a transport administrator to join our clients well established team. The successful candidate will get involved with assisting other departments within the company regarding freight/logistics demands and issues. This role will include lots of interaction with external parties including customers, suppliers, freight/carrier service providers and HMRC among others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arranging incoming and outgoing shipments. This will include both domestic and international traffic.
- Tracking of incoming and outgoing goods.
- Liaising with internal staff members, as well customers and suppliers about the whereabouts of consignments.
- Communicating with freight/carrier companies regarding any queries, i.e. late shipments, damaged parcels etc.
- Reporting internally on the outcome of transport issues.
- Checking and signing off freight/carrier invoices for payment.
- Keeping prices for carriage/freight services up to date.
- Allocating incoming freight invoices to the purchase order within our ERP system where applicable.
- Dealing with customs procedures plus any queries that arise with VAT & duties issues.
- Allocating duty to purchase orders within our ERP using the deferment statements produced by HMRC and Import Data Summaries received from the carriers.
- Updating freight prices internally to assist the sales team.
- Collecting and updating delivery dates from suppliers.
- Other tasks within the purchasing office when needed.
Person specifications:
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Understanding of Microsoft office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Ability to work under pressure, organize and prioritize.
- An understanding of freight/carrier services.
- Prior knowledge of customs procedures would be an advantage.
- Be able to identify customs issues/errors and resolve them in a timely manner.
- A Proactive person who can identify and solve problems on their own.
