We are currently looking for an experienced General Operative / Counterbalance FLT Driver to provide short term cover at a busy builders’ merchants.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within a builders’ merchant, building supplies yard or similar environment, with experience of picking customer orders and handling building materials.

Duties will include:

• Operating a counterbalance forklift
• Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
• Loading and unloading deliveries
• Moving and organising stock around the yard
• Picking building materials from stock for customer orders
• Assisting customers and colleagues with loading materials
• Handling building materials safely and efficiently
• General yard and warehouse duties

The ideal candidate will have:

• A valid Counterbalance Forklift licence
• Previous picking experience, ideally within a warehouse, builders’ merchant or building supplies environment
• Previous experience working in a builders’ merchant or similar environment
• Good knowledge of common building materials, such as plasterboard, timber, insulation, cement and other construction products
• Good awareness of manual handling and workplace safety
• Good attention to detail when picking customer orders
• A reliable and hardworking attitude
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
