Payroll Bureau Assistant


18 months fixed term contract

Up to £32,000 per annum – dependent on experience

MET Recruitment is excited to be working with a renowned local business based in Dudley in the heart of the Black Country. Our client is looking for an experienced Bureau Assistant who will be a valued member of the payroll bureau team. The ideal person will have at least 5 years experience working within a busy payroll department or bureau.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce payrolls and give general payroll advice for clients as directed by the Bureau Manager
  • Undertake other tasks as required by the Bureau Manager and Bureau Supervisor
  • Ensure accuracy of all work submitted to Bureau Manager and Bureau Supervisor
  • Ensure tasks are completed to the time scales agreed within the bureau department
  • Resolve non-contentious points with the client
  • Ensure good client relations are maintained throughout the payroll cycles
  • Uphold the professional image of the firm
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance

The Successful Candidate

  • Have at least 5 years’ experience within a payroll department, or ideally within a payroll bureau.
  • Be able to produce payment files and submit via BACS
  • Understand and ensure clients meet their obligations to HMRC and also auto-enrolment legislation.
  • Have a good knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Have a good telephone manner
  • Be able to work in a fast paced environment
